1 (16 oz) package fresh or frozen strawberries (if frozen, thaw and drain)
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 box yellow cake mix (dry)
½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
Optional: whipped cream or powdered sugar for topping
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese with ½ cup sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer the strawberries evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the strawberries.
- Drizzle the melted butter evenly on top of the cake mix.
- Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup sugar over the top.
