Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning)

  • 1 cup salsa

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup sour cream (optional, for serving)

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce (optional, for serving)

  • 1 medium tomato, diced (optional, for serving)

  • Jalapeño slices (optional, for serving)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning and salsa, then simmer for 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of a greased 9-inch pie dish, forming a crust. Pinch the seams together to seal.
  • Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the crescent dough.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve with sour cream, shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and jalapeños, if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • For added flavor, sprinkle some taco seasoning over the cheese before baking.
  • Feel free to add black beans or corn to the beef mixture for more texture and flavor.
