2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda
¾ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
¾ cup whole milk
1 egg
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
½ tsp salt
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and baking soda.
- Add shredded cheddar cheese and mix until well distributed.
- Add cold, cubed butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or fork until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Pour into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
- Scoop out the dough into 12 equal portions and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
- While the biscuits bake, prepare the garlic butter glaze by mixing melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, and salt.
- Brush the glaze over the warm biscuits as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For an even cheesier biscuit, sprinkle extra cheddar cheese on top of the biscuits before baking.
- These biscuits are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
- For extra flavor, mix in a little paprika or onion powder into the dough.
