Origin Christmas Cheesecake Bars

These bars are a modern holiday twist on traditional cheesecake, made easier to serve and share. Popular at Christmas parties and cookie exchanges, they blend classic flavors with festive flair.

What I Love About This Recipe

They’re rich, creamy, and full of Christmas magic — plus, they’re much easier to serve than a full cheesecake! The colorful toppings make them an eye-catching (and crowd-pleasing) dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 6 tbsp melted butter

  • 16 oz (2 blocks) cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ cup sour cream

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Press mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and sour cream.
  • Pour the cheesecake mixture over the crust and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the center is just set.
  • Allow to cool completely, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight).
  • Before serving, top with holiday sprinkles, crushed candy canes, or a drizzle of white chocolate. Cut into bars and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can switch the crust with crushed gingersnaps for extra holiday flavor.
  • Bars can be made 1–2 days in advance and stored in the fridge.
  • For clean cuts, wipe your knife with a warm, damp cloth between slices.
