kcalIngredients
1 cup brewed sweet tea (cooled)
1 tbsp fresh mint leaves, chopped
1–2 tbsp honey or sugar (adjust to sweetness)
½ tsp lime juice
1 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)
½ cup orange juice
1–2 tbsp agave syrup or sugar (adjust to sweetness)
½ cup water
1 tbsp fresh mint leaves (optional for garnish)
Directions
- In a bowl, mix cooled sweet tea with honey or sugar, lime juice, and fresh mint. Stir well until sweetener is dissolved.
- For the Margarita Layer:
- In a separate bowl, combine lime juice, orange juice, water, and agave syrup. Stir to combine.
- Pour the sweet tea julep mixture into popsicle molds, filling halfway. Freeze for 2–3 hours until firm.
- Once the sweet tea layer is frozen, pour the margarita mixture over the top to fill the molds. Insert sticks and freeze for another 4–6 hours, or until completely frozen.
- To release the popsicles, run warm water over the outside of the mold for a few seconds.
- Serve chilled and garnish with a sprig of mint if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness of both layers to your taste. You can add more sugar or agave for extra sweetness or cut back if you prefer a more tart flavor.
- For an adult version, add a splash of tequila or bourbon to the margarita layer before freezing.
- These popsicles can be made in advance and stored in the freezer for a week or more.
