Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp baking soda

  • ¾ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

  • ¾ cup whole milk

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

  • ½ tsp salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and baking soda.
  • Add shredded cheddar cheese and mix until well distributed.
  • Add cold, cubed butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or fork until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Pour into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  • Scoop out the dough into 12 equal portions and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  • While the biscuits bake, prepare the garlic butter glaze by mixing melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, and salt.
  • Brush the glaze over the warm biscuits as soon as they come out of the oven.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an even cheesier biscuit, sprinkle extra cheddar cheese on top of the biscuits before baking.
  • These biscuits are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
  • For extra flavor, mix in a little paprika or onion powder into the dough.
