kcalIngredients
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
2 medium apples, peeled and finely chopped
¼ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter, melted
Directions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, egg, salt, and flour. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
- In a separate bowl, mix chopped apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread the apple mixture evenly over it.
- Cut into strips, stack them, and slice into squares. Arrange them in a greased loaf pan.
- Let the dough rise for another 20-30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- For caramel sauce, heat sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until melted and amber in color. Stir in butter and heavy cream carefully. Cook for 1-2 minutes, then add salt.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over warm bread before serving.
Notes
- Use Granny Smith apples for a slight tartness that balances the caramel.
- If short on time, store-bought biscuit dough can be used instead.
