Ingredients
1 1⁄3 lbs lean ground chuck
1 1⁄2 tablespoons masa corn flour
4 ½ teaspoons chili powder
11/2 teaspoon onion powder
11/2 teaspoons garlic powder
11/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
11/2 teaspoon paprika
1⁄4teaspoon cumin
11/2 teaspoon garlic salt
11/4 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon instant minced onion
11/2 teaspoon beef bouillon
12 taco shells
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1⁄2 head shredded lettuce
2 Roma tomatoes, diced
Directions
- Meat Directions.
- Combine all the ingredients, leaving the meat aside.
- Thoroughly stir the spice mixture to ensure all the spices are evenly blended.
- Break apart the ground beef and cook it until browned, stirring frequently.
- Remove from heat, rinse the beef with hot water, and drain off the excess water and grease.
- Place the beef back into the pan and stir in the spice mixture.
- Pour 3/4 to 1 cup of water into the pan with the ground beef and seasoning, then simmer over medium-low heat for 20 minutes.
- Cook on low heat until most of the moisture has evaporated.
- Remove from heat when the moisture in the meat has evaporated, but the meat is still moist.
- Assemble the taco.
- To refresh the taco shells, place them in a baking dish and heat in a 350-degree oven for 7-10 minutes.
- To assemble the tacos, add a couple of tablespoons of ground meat, followed by lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream if desired.
