Origin Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread
This creative twist combines the all-American Sloppy Joe sandwich with classic garlic bread, resulting in a hearty, shareable dish that’s ideal for game nights, parties, or casual dinners.
What I Love About This Recipe
It’s messy, cheesy, and packed with bold flavor. The buttery garlic bread base holds the saucy meat perfectly, and the melted cheese on top takes it over the edge!

kcalIngredients
1 loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
1 lb ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
1 cup Sloppy Joe sauce (store-bought or homemade)
2 tbsp butter, softened
2 cloves garlic, minced
1½ cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onions until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in Sloppy Joe sauce, reduce heat, and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic. Spread garlic butter over cut sides of the bread.
- Place bread on a baking sheet, buttered side up, and bake for 5 minutes until slightly crisp.
- Remove from oven and evenly spoon Sloppy Joe mixture over each bread half. Top with shredded cheese.
- Return to oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with parsley if desired, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Toasting the bread before adding meat keeps it from getting soggy.
- Use provolone, pepper jack, or a cheese blend for a flavor twist.
- Leftovers reheat well under the broiler or in a toaster oven.
